Who We Are
Brightbox is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, based in Boulder, Colorado.
Through partnerships with universities and community organizations, we deploy and direct teams of field researchers to document and preserve the languages, customs, and cognitive perspectives of marginalized and endangered cultures—with the ultimate goal of advancing and enhancing both human intelligence and artificial intelligence.
Beyond this documentation and preservation, we use AI tools to analyze and transform our findings into large repositories of comprehensive, structured training data, which is made available to the public and AI researchers alike. We believe this data will empower researchers to broaden, enhance, and enrich the development of AI, ensuring the growth of artificial intelligence includes the entire spectrum of human intelligence.

Brightbox Founder & President Geoffrey Wollerman brings more than 20 years of experience bridging language, technology, and culture.
As a writer and editor with organizations including the Associated Press, he has spent his career understanding how communication shapes human experience. His work has ranged from real-time document editing for global enterprises to training xAl's Grok through reinforcement learning.
Brightbox's Culture Lab + Language Vault represents the culmination of his first life maxim: Language is everything.
A passionate communicator, avid reader, and fanatic crossword puzzler, he believes preserving humanity's full linguistic and cultural diversity isn't just academic work—it's a strategic imperative for an Al-integrated future.
