Who We Are
Brightbox is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, based in Boulder, Colorado. Our critical mission is a response to the disruptive threats posed to humanity's diverse cultural and cognitive roots by the acceleration of globalization and the rapid advance of technological innovation.
Through partnerships with universities and community organizations, we deploy and direct teams of field researchers to document and preserve the distinctive languages, customs, stories, and cognitive perspectives of the world's many endangered and dying cultures.
Beyond documentation and preservation, we also use AI tools to analyze, correlate, and transform our findings into large repositories of comprehensive, structured training data made available to AI researchers and engineers to empower a broader, more enhanced and enriched AI development, ensuring that the growth of artificial intelligence includes the entire spectrum of human intelligence.

Brightbox Founder & President Geoffrey Wollerman brings more than 20 years of experience bridging language, technology, and culture.
As a writer and editor with organizations including the Associated Press, he has spent his career understanding how communication shapes human experience. His work has ranged from real-time document editing for global enterprises to training xAl's Grok through reinforcement learning—experience that revealed both Al's potential and its current limitations.
Brightbox's Culture Lab + Language Vault represents the culmination of his first life maxim: Language is everything.
A passionate communicator, avid reader, and fanatic crossword puzzler, he believes preserving humanity's full linguistic and cultural diversity isn't just academic work—it's a strategic imperative for an Al-integrated future.
